Making Knowledge Builder booksets available

By default, a Knowledge Builder Client makes available all booksets during installation. The Server tab on the KB Administration Utility gives the administrator the control whether a bookset is made available to the user or not. Typically, this would be done when booksets reside on a networked server that has the KB Client installed.

TIP

This Server function controls whether or not booksets are available to the clients targeting this Knowledge Builder server location. This can be used to restrict users from some information. A bookset that is deselected and therefore hidden to users is not uninstalled. It is available to be exposed in the future.

Within the KB Delivery Engine on the Preferences tab, is the ability to show or hide available booksets in the treeview. This allows users to set their personal preferences whether or not available booksets are exposed.

Prerequisites

You have launched the KB Administration Utility and have access to the Server tab. Enter administrative user name and password if required.

Considerations

You are familiar with navigating to directory locations on a computer running Windows.

1

On the Server tab, click the checkbox to deselect an installed bookset. This makes the bookset unavailable to clients targeting this location for their KB Servers. Do this for all booksets that are to be hidden.

2

Click the Apply or OK button to save the selection.

3

This completes the procedure. Go to the next applicable administrative function section in this document.
